About the Institute

The Institute of Applied Computer Science is an entity of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. It employs around 75 people, including 13 professors and associate professors, 23 assistant professors and 17 PhD students. The Institute is engaged in both research and teaching activities. It provides courses related to computer science in different first-cycle programmes and runs three second-cycle programmes: Computer Science and Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Human-Computer Interaction. Its research areas encompass process tomography, image processing and analysis / computer vision, algorithms and bioinformatics,  human-computer interaction, industrial informatics, and artificial intelligence. It is highly involved in research projects, both at the national and international level.

The Institute is a co-host of the Information Technology Center, where it has the most modern laboratories for computer networks, processing and analysis of images and measurement data, among others, process tomography.
